Jun Hatori / 羽鳥 潤

Software / Machine Learning Engineer

I am passionate for applying cutting-edge AI and ML technologies to consumer products, with a particular focus on the intersection of language and vision. I have been working on machine learning applications for smartphones and robots as well as research projects.

I currently work for Apple in California. I received PhD in Computer Science from University of Tokyo in 2012.

Recent Projects

Tidying-up Robot

I was a leading member of Preferred Networks' tidying-up robot project demonstrated at CEATEC JAPAN 2018

Voice-Controlled Picking Robot

Participated in the development of voice-controlled picking robot system and co-authored an ICRA-2018's best paper on commanding a robot to perform a picking task interactively

Transition-Based Word Segmentation and Parsing

Proposed the first transition-based framework to process three foundational tasks in NLP, namely word tokenization, part-of-speech tagging and dependency parsing (in 2012).
